Can live-in relationships be more successful than marriages..?

Live-in relationship is quite popular these days. It has its own benefits but it lasts only as long as both the partners are happy together. It is more of a casual and convenient relationship because it lacks commitment. When partners get bored of each other after few months or years,the relationship loses its charm and they prefer separating, rather than making an effort to solve the issue.

The reason behind marriage being more successful is that it provides an individual with a companion who shares the long journey of life and provides a shoulder to lean on and share responsibilities. It is socially accepted and lasts longer than a live-in relationship. One main reason behind young crowd not being in favor of marriage is that, it does not offer personal freedom. But the question is.. is freedom more important than emotional commitment and support?
